A toddler has tragically passed away after she was found in a river on the North Coast yesterday near Yamba.
Just after 10am emergency services were called to a property at Palmers Island after reports that the 19-month-old had gone missing from the Wynyabbie House wedding venue which sits on the Clarence River.
Officers from the Coffs/Clarence District began a desperate search of the property and surrounding areas.
The girl, who is yet to be named, was found unresponsive in the Clarence River on Sunday morning, 20 minutes after she had been reported missing.
Police performed CPR until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived. The 19-month-old was taken to Maclean Hospital but sadly she could not be revived.
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
