A six-year-old boy has tragically died after being hit by a car in Sydney’s west on Friday 27 May 2022. At around 12:40 on Friday, emergency services were called to Richmond Road, Doonside after reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car.
Officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command attended along with New South Wales Ambulance paramedics. The boy was found with critical injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics and careflight helicopter crews before being taken to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead where he later died.
The male driver of the car is assisting police with inquiries and a crime scene was established and examined by the Crash Investigation Unit.
It is believed the boy had run onto the road as he was chasing a dog when the tragedy occurred.
Police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area to contact police.
