Emergency services were called to the intersection of Universal and Maloney streets in Eastlakes, just before 10.30am (Wednesday 4 May 2022) after a pedestrian was located injured on the roadside.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated and stabilised the 74-year-old man at the scene before he was transported to Prince of Wales Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Officers from the South Sydney Police Area Command attended the site and established a crime scene. Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident.
The Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit is investigating how the man came to be injured and believed he may have been injured after being hit by a vehicle that has failed to stop.
