Scott Morrison is unveiling plans to build a $10 billion dollar submarine base on the east coast of Australia to house the future fleet of nuclear powered submarines.
19 possible locations have been considered thus far and this has now been narrowed down to a choice between three sites in either Qld or NSW. Brisbane, Newcastle or Port Kembla are the three locations being considered at this stage, with Port Kembla believed to be the preferred choice.
Australiaās fleet of nuclear powered submarines are not expected to be commissioned until around 2040 however Peter Dutton has suggested that they may be here much sooner than that.
This is in response to growing fears of a China – Russia coalition which is attempting to reshape the āinternational orderā.
