A nightclub in Baku, Azerbaijan has been rocked by a massive explosion over the weekend, causing dozens of injuries. The venue was rocked by a massive explosion on Saturday night, completely destroying the entrance to the club and causing a fire inside also.
It has been reported that 24 people had been hospitalised with burns and other injuries, with as many as 35 ambulance crews dispatched to the scene of the incident. Currently one death has been confirmed, but the exact number of victims has yet to be announced. It is claimed that so far the blast has claimed at least three people’s lives, but only the one has been confirmed.
Several videos circulated on the internet after the blast, showing the aftermath with people panicking and trying to flee the venue as well as attempting to help one another. Other footage showed emergency crews attending the scene.
Currently the cause of the incident is unknown, preliminary investigations indicate that a gas leak was most likely the cause of this horrific incident.
