The Australian Travel Declaration (ATD) from today, the 15th of February, has been replaced with the Digital Passenger Declaration (DPD). This just means that all passengers now entering Australia by air will have to start the DPD 7 days prior to departure. Then submit it within 3 days of departure. Health information, Covid-19 vaccination status and a negative Covid-19 test result with supporting medical evidence will be on this declaration. As well as a legally binding declaration informing of your last 14 days’ travel history, an Australian contact phone number and your understanding of the enforced requirements of the State or Territory you arrive in.
You are not guaranteed to be able to enter Australia until you have received a ‘confirmed’ status prior to boarding. It is then the airlines’ final decision to allow you to board.
You must also check the Australian Department of Health website regarding any arrival requirements when you land.
The DPD is free. All passengers over 16 must fill in their own forms. A parent or guardian must fill in for anyone under 16.
There are heavy fines for noncompliance and lying on these declarations.
