Channel 9 reporter Lana Murphy has released a statement after sharing a controversial picture on her personal Instagram page. She was covering the Saturday protest against the U.S Supreme Court decision regarding Roe vs Wade in Melbourne.
Lana Murphy was pictured holding a sign that read ‘Mary (the virgin) should have had an abortion.’
This has upset many religious groups and communities, stating it is a disgusting message of Christian hate.
Channel 9 issued a statement Tuesday afternoon saying Ms Murphy was punished with a counselling session about why the post was inappropriate. They also apologized to anyone who was offended by this post.
Ms Murphy has also apologized in a statement saying it was not her intention to offend anyone.
Both Channel 9 and Ms Murphy also said they must remain impartial and respect both sides of the issue.
This is not the first time Ms Murphy has slipped up. In August 2020, she was heard dropping an f-bomb due to wind messing with her hair. A statement later said the wrong pre-recorded live was aired, and mistakes happened.
She had to be fired, she CAN NEVER EVER be journalist, that is unbiased or trusted
