US comedian Gilbert Gottfried, best known for his role in the film Aladdin has passed away from a heart condition at the age of 67.
His career saw him appear in films like “Problem Child,” “Beverly Hills Cop II,” “Look Who’s Talking II,” “The Aristocrats” and other movies. He also appeared on Saturday Night Live several times. Gottfried was known for his unique voice.
Gottfried’s publicist and friend Glenn Schwartz announced in a statement that he died from recurrent ventricular tachycardia due to myotonic dystrophy type II, a disorder that affects the heart.
His family put out a statement via his twitter profile today
“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness. In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor. Love the Gottfried family.”
