A critical incident investigation is now underway after a police shooting in Coffs Harbour.
At about 10:25am today, officers from the Coffs Harbour Region Enforcement Squad (RES) stopped a northbound vehicle on the Pacific Highway.
As Police approached the vehicle, the man allegedly drove at Police, prompting an office to discharge their firearm twice before the man drove away from the scene. Police initiated a pursuit, and a short time later were able to arrest the driver after he stopped on Hogbin Drive.
A 29-year-old man has been taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus in a stable condition, and his injuries are not considered life-threatening. Police have not confirmed if the injuries are a result of the Police shooting or if they were sustained in another way.
Police have established two crime scenes and a critical incident team from the Mid North Coast Police District will now investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
