A fire has swept through a shipping container depot in Southeast Bangladesh, killing at least 49 and injuring hundreds more.
The fire broke out on Saturday evening and was still spreading on Sunday afternoon, multiple chemical explosions were reported.
“The number of casualties is increasing every hour. Until this afternoon, 49 people died, including 10 firefighters. More than 200 people were injured in the fire incident,” Faruque Hossain Shikder, assistant director of Chittagong’s Fire Service and Civil Defense, told Arab News.
The situation is so dire that the Prime Minister has sent in the Bangladesh Army to assist.
