A 27-year-old man was fatally shot by police at One Mile, in Ipswich yesterday 15 May 2022.
At around 11:15am police were called to the suburb of One Mile after reports of an armed man on Ernest Street.
Around midday, residents in Ernest Street and Woodford Street were directed by police to stay indoors under the provisions of the Public Safety Preservation Act, as police attempted to negotiate with the man.
It is reported that the 27-year-old was shot by police after they were allegedly threatened by the armed man.
He was treated at the scene but died a short time later.
The incident is under investigation by Ethical Standard Command on behalf of the State Coroner and will be subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC).
The areas of Ernest and Woodford Streets have been declared crime scenes and public access is currently prohibited.
Police are appealing for anyone with information which could assist with the investigation to contact them.
