The people living in the community of Binajari have recorded 38 cases of the virus. These people are not all living in the same households. Binjari has a small population of only 195 people.

These 38 people and their closest contacts have been transported by ADF personnel to the Howard Springs Centre for National Resilience in Darwin. The ADF was requested by the Chief Minister to the Federal government to help with transportation and community support. There are 20 ADF members.

According to the government and health workers that have been contacted, the fear of spreading the virus is the fear they are implementing towards the communities. The Rockhole and Binjari communities are both under strict lockdowns. They cannot leave their homes unless it’s for medical needs or an emergency.

The police and government officials are providing food supplies. Not health officials.

Rockhole is a smaller community with around 130 people living there. There is no mention of them being transported to Howard Springs.

With large families living together in small homes, tensions are high. With the fear of the virus spreading amongst them, with a large amount of them unvaccinated, the vaccinated people living in the homes are getting agitated as their family members are refusing to adhere to the health advice being presented to them.

There are many people who need to take care of other family members not living with them but are now not allowed because of lockdowns, and it is left up to the police and government.

For those who have been sent to Howard Springs, if they refuse the vaccine, they will spend an extra 10 days at the centre.

Without being there on the ground, we have no source of factual information regarding social media reports of forced vaccination. Multiple calls to Aboriginal communities in the area has been not helpful. They direct you to a government website, stating that they are only looking out for their people. They do not want to lose the First Nations people to a deadly virus sweeping the country.
