An investigation into illegal sex work, escort services, and drug trafficking operations have led to the arrests of two men in Melbourne on 12 May 2022 by detectives from the Fawkner Divisional Response Unit (DRU).
Following the three-month-long investigation, officers executed warrants across Melbourne with the assistance of the Sex Industry Coordination Unit, Brunswick Police, and the Australian Border Force.
The warrants were executed by police at Queens Road in Melbourne CBD, Ascot Vale Road in Moonee Ponds, and Hillside Grove in Airport West.
A 33-year-old man was charged with living wholly or in part of the earnings of sex workers, deal with proceeds of crime (cash), drug trafficking, and possession of methylamphetamines, cannabis, cocaine, psilocybin, and gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB).
The Moonee Ponds man was due to appear in Broadmeadows Magistrates Court on 12 May 2022.
A 38-year-old man was charged with possess methylamphetamines, bail offences, and possessing an imitation firearm.
The Melbourne man is due to appear in Melbourne’s Magistrates Court on 17 May 2022.
