With FINA cancelling the upcoming World Junior Championships in August and all events that were going to be held in Russia including the World Short Course Championships, Swimming Australia has welcomed this decision.
Their concern is for the safety of all staff and athletes participating in events. Swimming Australia would like to see these events held at an alternate location so the athletes can have the opportunity to race in a safe environment.
Given the importance of the pathway to Swimming Australia, an alternate international event is being planned with Pan Pacific partners for the Junior swim team.
Swimming Australia will also closely monitor the situation in Ukraine before the FINA World Championship in June, to be held in Budapest.
