Former Aussie rock band Silverchair’s lead vocalist Daniel Johns was arrested and charged with high range drink driving after a head on collision with a van on the Pacific Highway at North Arm Cove, on the NSW mid north coast.

It’s alleged that the Silverchair front man returned a positive roadside breath test after police arrived at the scene of the accident. According to police, John’s crossed over into oncoming traffic, ending in a head on crash, with a 51-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman, who were treated at the scene. The woman was then taken to John Hunter Hospital and later released.

Daniel Johns was taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station where John’s was given a second breath analysis test, returning a reading of 0.157.

“He has been issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice for high range PCA; he is due to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court on Monday 11 April 2022.” Police revealed in a statement.

The former Silverchair lead singer took to social media after the accident. “Last night I got lost while driving and was in an accident,” Johns posted on Instagram. “I am okay. Everyone is okay.”

John’s admitted he had been leaning on alcohol to help deal with anxiety, depression, and PTSD, releasing a statement advising that he will be self-admitting to rehab.
