A 72-year-old man has died at Bairnsdale Hospital, East Gippsland Victoria. The man was taken to hospital by ambulance, sadly he passed away approximately three hours later whilst still waiting for treatment.
An investigation into the death is ongoing. Further details will be released at a later date.
Ambulance services Victoria and Health services have expressed their deepest sympathy for the man’s family. They declined to make any other comments whilst investigations continue.
President of the Rural Doctors Association Victoria, Rob Phair, who works at the hospital said staffing was an issue across the state. Health systems are under massive stress.
Clearly, patient’s lives are being put at risk, front-line workers are working in unacceptable conditions and service standards are being eroded.
Government mis-management of the Covid Crisis has seriously damaged the whole health care system.
Skilled Doctors, Nurses and paramedics have left or been sacked. Others continue to leave for other reasons, moral is at an all time low.
Two years into a deadly pandemic and it seems the very thing that should have been addressed from day one is the very thing that has been ignored, our health service is now hanging by a thread, YET AGAIN held up by the dedication of OUR HEALTH CARE WORKERS.
The Health Minister’s Office has been contacted, as yet there is no comment.
