Police are currently investigating a likely assault in Matraville overnight after a man in his twenties was found unconscious and with serious injuries on Bunnerong Road at around 1:30am on Thursday morning.
Police were responding to a call to the location where they found the seriously injured man. NSW Ambulance paramedics were called and treated him on scene, he was then transported to Prince of Wales Hospital with a suspected fractured jaw along with other head injuries. He remains in a serious condition.
Police have established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault. Police have released a description of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, with a solid build, about 183cm tall, and at the time was wearing a white t-shirt, white shorts, a dark hat, and had a cast on his right arm.
