Following questions raised at its annual shareholder’s meeting last Friday, hotel chain giant Marriott attempted to dissociate itself from the World Economic Forum (WEF) it continues to fund.
In a press release issued on 6 May 2022, the National Center for Public Policy Research (NCPPR) published details of the questions and responses relating to Marriott’s continued funding of the WEF, and of the undisclosed use of its shareholder funds.
National Center for Public Policy Research wrote:
“Marriott executives today tried to dissociate themselves from the dystopian ideals of the World Economic Forum (WEF) while still defending their use of shareholder money on the controversial organization and its ritzy retreats in Davos, Switzerland.”
NCPPR reported that during Marriott’s annual shareholder meeting on 6 May 2022, questions were raised by leading investor activists from the Free Enterprise Project (FEP).
One line of questioning sought clarification as to whether the Marriott’s sponsorship of WEF should be seen as the company’s endorsement of WEF’s many questionable goals.
As the meeting was held virtually, Ethan Peck from FEP submitted the following questions to Marriott International CEO Anthony Capuano:
“WEF lists Marriott as a partner, but Marriott doesn’t disclose this spending to its shareholders. Why is Marriott willing to financially support WEF, but unwilling to be forthright about it to shareholders?”
“WEF openly advocated for transhumanism, abolishing private property, eating bugs, social credit systems, and a host of other blatantly Orwellian objectives. Do you share this vision for the future? If not, are you willing to end Marriott’s partnership with WEF?”
NCPPR said the meeting was held virtually, and questions submitted were pre-screened and inaccurately paraphrased by a moderator who instead asked why Marriott was willing to financially support the WEF.
Capuano responded:
“The World Economic Forum lists Marriott as a partner, and that’s why Marriott is willing to financially support that organization.
“Marriott supports a variety of organizations that provide forums for our executives to meet with business partners, policymakers, and other important stakeholders. Participation in those business groups does not represent and endorsement of their positions.”
Capuano’s response indicated Marriott financially supports the WEF for the reason that the WEF lists them as a partner, and nothing more.
And while Marriott’s attempt to distance itself from the World Economic Forum is based on the idea that the WEF is just another organization the Marriott associates with or contributes to, it claims its financial support is not indicative of its endorsement of the WEF.
Marriot’s history of association with the World Economic Forum is more than just one of financial contributions.
In 2017 Prime Sites USA reported Marriot International CEO Arne Sorrenson had been making the rounds at The World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
In 2018 Marriott attended the ‘World Economic Forum Sustainable Development Summit.’
In 2019 Marriot was one of the fifteen transnational billion-dollar corporate entities that participated in Bill Gate’s planned ‘Event 201’, along with the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations (UN), the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Johnson & Johnson (J&J), John Hopkins University, MasterCard, Lufthansa Airlines, The UPS Foundation, The World Bank, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the World Economic Forum.
And now in 2022, Marriot is still listed as a WEF partner.
In observation of Marriott’s association with the WEF; based on the responses provided in the shareholder meeting by its CEO Capuano; Mr. Peck said:
“Using shareholder assets for vacations is not acceptable under any circumstances. And that’s true even if WEF was a transparent organization dedicated to doing nothing but solving world hunger, but WEF is not a transparent organization solving world hunger. It is the polar opposite, and completely discounting that is insane.”
“So, it’s reasonable to assume that Marriott takes absolutely no issue with WEF’s agenda. Whether or not executives are willing to admit that publicly, people vote with their wallets more than their mouths. And to make matters worse, in this case, they’re not even using their wallets, they’re using ours.”
Free Enterprise Project (FEP) Director Scott Shepard agreed in the absurdity of Capuano’s response. Mr Shepard said:
“The World Economic Forum isn’t a neutral 18th-century coffeehouse. It’s a massively influential organization with a very definite plan for a ‘great reset’ of the whole world’s civilization. And that plan is deeply nefarious: transhumanism, a propertyless society (for everyone except the WEF elite), and diminished and restricted lives for the mass of humanity at the dictate of WEF partners. Belonging to WEF is absolutely an endorsement of its malevolent plans and a sponsorship of them. If Marriott executives want to hear good ideas, Davos is the last place they should go. They’d be better off calling up twenty shareholders at random – and when they do, they should apologize for this disgraceful waste of shareholder assets.”
