Reports circulating online indicate that there have been several explosions in close proximity to the State Security Minister building in Tiraspol, Transnistria, Moldova. Currently, there are no reports of injuries from the attack, and firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after.
Andrey Safonov, Deputy of the Supreme Council, stated: “The shelling of the building by a grenade launcher is an attempt to sow panic and fear. Attempts to put pressure on us have been observed before.”
Moldovan government claims that the goal of the attack in the pro-Russian region is an attempt to “create pretexts of tensioning the security situation.” The attacks saw several unidentified people firing several shots from grenade launchers, and currently, no country or faction has taken responsibility for the attack.
Transnistria, officially known as the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, is an unrecognised breakaway state with a majority Russian-speaking population that is internationally recognised as part of Moldova.
