Police launched an investigation after having received an email containing an online video depicting animal cruelty.
A search warrant was executed at the manās McMinns Lagoon property last Friday, where further material was found including a sizable number of videos depicting animal cruelty and bestiality. Police allege the acts to have been committed by the man.
Police seized mobile phones, digital cameras, and other electronic devices including computers and hard drives containing evidence of animal cruelty.
The Darwin man has been charged with 15 counts of aggravated (animal) cruelty under section 10 of the Animal Welfare Act 1999, and 2 counts of bestiality under section 138 of the Criminal Code Act (NT) 1983 and has been remanded into custody.
He is due to appear in Darwin Local Court on Tuesday 26 April 2022.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Jon Beer said, āThe contents of the videos is abhorrent. If members of the public came across this material, they would be revolted. It is incomprehensible that an individual could imagine such acts let alone carry them out. The depravity is deeply disturbing.ā
