France has dropped all rules pertaining to Covid and it’s requirements to be vaccinated to attend sporting venues, eat in restaurants, cinemas, fairs, etc. Masks have also been removed.
This paves way for Novak Djokovic to attend the Roland Garros tournament and play. The French Tennis Federation(FFT) has stated while things are looking good ‘as it stands’ Novak is free to play.
Tournament director Amelie Mauresmo addressed a press conference stating that Novak is free to play in the French Open, with the goal to have the best possible entry list.
FFT director general Amelie Oudea-Castera also expressed that things could change in any month to month scenario, they have learnt to be extremely careful, and would find a way to re-introduce health bubbles if need be.
The FFT also that Belarusian and Russian players would be able to compete but under a neutral flag, which is in line with what the ATP, WTA and grand slam tournaments have announced.
Another one bites the dust!
Well done to France. Australia could learn a lesson or two.
