Brad Hazzard, NSW Health Minister has tested positive for Covid-19. The minister’s office announced on Tuesday night that he was suffering minor flu-like symptoms.
A statement released to the public has said that “Minister Hazzard is now in isolation. He developed minor flu like symptoms overnight and is being managed via the NSW Health virtual hospital and the Northern Sydney Public Health Unit.”
Hazzard was informed early Tuesday that a colleague had returned a positives RATs test, leading the minister to take his own RATs test which returned a negative result. He took a subsequent PCR test which returned a positive result.
Apparently, it is not unusual for a patient to return a negative RATs test, only to then return a positive PCR test.
The minister is up to date with his Covid vaccines and has indicated that he will continue to work remotely.
