Pakistan’s test opener Abid Ali is attempting a comeback after he left the field while playing in a domestic match for Central Punjab in the 2021-22 Quaid e-Azam trophy competition, he was rushed to hospital where it was confirmed he had suffered a heart attack and was diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome.
Ali underwent angioplasty surgery at the hospital and underwent further surgery a few days later. In January 2022, Ali began rehabilitation at the national High-Performance Centre in Lahore under the close supervision of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) medical team.
Ali has been given the all-clear by doctors to return to the field. Ali commented on the work he has done with the rehabilitation team and his coming return to the field “I have the hard work in my hands, which now I am doing as I did in the past, everything else is to be done by Allah, if Allah wills then no power of the world can stop me from playing again, this is my belief and confidence in my hard work.”
