Gilead, an American pharmaceutical corporation bribed doctors and hospitals to promote the company’s drugs between 2013 and 2019. Many of these drugs caused serious adverse reactions and death in the patients who used them.
Reports suggest that at least $178 million was paid directly to doctors, while a further $81 million was poured into hospitals across the United States. These funds were incentive for doctors and hospitals to push Gilead products onto unsuspecting patients.
The data shows that as many as 21,833 physicians were paid off to prescribe the company’s drugs to their patients in 2019 alone.
Gilead also initiated a $3.3 billion hepatitis C elimination project in the state of Georgia that according to leaked documents obtained by Arms Watch, showed that at least 249 enrolled patients, possibly more may have been killed by the drug.
Reported cause of death for some of the patients was “unknown” as stated in confidential Gilead reports. Other patients had to withdraw after becoming seriously ill from the “treatments” that Gilead were giving them, and some of them later passed away.
Hepatitis C drug “Harvoni” has been pushed by Gilead in Canada and Portugal as well. In all countries where the drug has been pushed, patients are dying from the use of it according to data from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
It is said the pharmaceutical company is currently being investigated by authorities for the illegal funnelling of kickbacks to US care providers to boost sales.
Arms Watch has stated that it has received emails from several patients who suffered serious injuries after taking Harvoni. Some of the emails are reported to have come from family members and friends of the deceased.
One of the emails explains that Gilead drugs cause weakened bones, nausea, memory fog, teeth and hair loss, diarrhoea, heart problems, liver, and kidney failure, hearing impairment and much, much more.
Another email describes how a 35-year-old father developed stage 3 liver cirrhosis from taking the drug. Liver cirrhosis that severe is usually found only in elderly patients.
Gilead is also the maker of the controversial Covid drug Remdesivir.
