Two men have been charged and taken into custody by Organised Crime Squad detectives following an investigative probe into a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in money laundering and drug supply.

Organised Crime Squad’s Anti Money Laundering Unit established Strike Force Aldred earlier this year to investigate the activities of the alleged syndicate.

On 24 March 2022 around 12:30pm detectives, with the assistance of Raptor Highway, intercepted a Toyota Hilux on Kleins Road at Westmead.

In an initial search of the vehicle, police seized more than $12,000 in cash, numerous mobile phones, and an amount of cocaine. Detectives also located $300,000 cash within a hidden compartment of the vehicle.

Two men, aged 26 and 30, were arrested and taken to Merrylands Police Station.

Investigators, with the assistance of South West Metropolitan Operation Support Group (OSG), executed numerous search warrants at homes at Cabramatta and Kenthurst, and a business at Castle Hill later in the day.

Officers seized more than $860,000 in cash during searches at the Castle Hill business.

Investigators also seized further amounts of cash, cocaine, a gold necklace, and other items during the operation, which will undergo further forensic analysis.

Both men have since been charged with knowingly deal with proceeds of crime and supply prohibited drug and were granted strict conditional bail.

The men were due to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Wednesday 27 April 2022).
