Queensland man charged after alleged sexual assault of 14-year-old girl

Queensland Police have charged a Macleay Island man following investigations into the alleged rape of a teenage girl at Redland Bay this week. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court on Monday, 11 July 2022.

Wynnum Child Protection and Investigation Unit officers arrested the 41-year-old man on charges of rape, indecent treatment of child under 16 (procure to commit) and using internet to procure child under 16 and intentionally meeting or going to meet a child.

The man and 14-year-old victim were known to each other.

  1. think the alleged offence took place on Russell Island at the toilets at the front hall on Alison St.
    Police were present from around 11pm the night before didn’t leave until after lunch the next day.
