Queensland’s Wellcamp quarantine facility will take its first arrivals this weekend.
A alleged small group of unvaccinated international travellers will be bused to the site just outside Toowoomba from Brisbane.
Queensland Taskforce Commissioner Joanne Greenfield has said the first intake “would probably” be fewer than 10 people to ensure “controlled entry” and the future “flow” would depend on flights.
Queensland Deputy Premier Steven Miles said that the travellers were currently in hotel quarantine in Brisbane after flying in from New Zealand and would be transferred to the new quarantine facility on Saturday.
The Wellcamp facility has about 500 beds available now with a further 500 to be roll out by April.
