Heavy rain continued to fall overnight with falls of 40-60mm in the Western suburbs of Sydney along the Nepean-Hawkesbury River system this is following on from over 100mm the night before that saw major flooding occur once again in North Richmond and other area’s along the Nepean-Hawkesbury river.
Penrith has seen over 400mm fall in the past two weeks with falls of 50-100mm predicted today and 80-150mm predicted tomorrow. With the ground already saturated and major river system already flooding, the situation looks dire.
A severe weather warning is currently in place for people in Mid North Coast, Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra and parts of South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains and Northern Tablelands Forecast Districts for heavy rainfall over the next two days with the possibility of intense rainfall from thunderstorms. The warning includes the towns Coffs Harbour, Scone, Kempsey, Coonabarabran, Port Macquarie, Taree, Newcastle, Gosford, Sydney, Wollongong, Nowra, Batemans Bay, Bega, Goulburn, Tamworth and Gunnedah.
A flood watch is also in place for possible renewed flooding for coastal catchments from the Northern Rivers to the South Coast from Sunday.
The renewed warnings come as bad news for the devastated Northern Rivers town of Lismore who has seen widespread disaster from the previous flooding. Over 2000 homes and businesses have been declared unlivable. The situation in that region is dire with repeated call for help across social media as our government and mainstream media turn a blind eye. Many with in groups that the mainstream media like to label anti-vaxxers have been at the forefront in bringing much needed attention to the dire situation in Lismore and actively offering help to those in need when all expected support networks have failed.
