An unidentified runner, aged just 30 has gone into cardiac arrest at the finish line of the Brooklyn Half Marathon and passed away.
The man collapsed just after 9am on Saturday local time and was taken to Coney Island Hospital and pronounced dead according to the New York Post.
Sixteen other participants were taken to hospital, with four collapsing at the finish line. Five are in serious condition according to the FDNY EMS response and operations at the race. The cause of the hospitalisations is not being announced at present.
