South Australia Police have arrested two teenagers after allegedly stealing a car at knifepoint in North Haven, South Australia.
Just after 7pm yesterday, a victim had his Mitsubishi Lancer sedan stolen after teenagers approached him on Osborne Street. It is alleged that one of the teens produced a knife and demanded the keys to his car.
The vehicle was last seen heading west on Osborne Road. Western District patrols later spotted the stolen car travelling north on Morphett Road at Novar Gardens at around 11:30pm.
Officers pursued the vehicle along several roadways before a successful deployment of a tyre deflation device on Raglan Avenue in Edwardstown. STAR group officers took over the pursuit, as the vehicle continued driving before losing two tyres and coming to a stop a short time later near the intersection of Adam Street at Torrensville.
Police reported that the driver attempted to flee however he was stopped a short distance away and arrested.
The driver, a 17-year-old boy from Mile End was charged with aggravated robbery, illegal use and dangerous driving to escape a police pursuit.
The passenger, a 15-year-old boy from Ottoway, was charged with aggravated robbery and illegal use.
The teenagers were both refused bail and were set to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court today (Wednesday 27 April).
