Today we covered #ReclaimTheLine protests in Sydney and Melbourne. I was the correspondent in Sydney for the day and filmed live from Jamison Park, Penrith where around 50 protesters from essential services attended. The crowd was made up of Nurses, Teachers, Fire Fighters and even a Police Officer who are all either stood down or about to be stood down over their decision not to take the vaccine. I spoke with one firefighter who wished to remain off camera, he was stood down recently after over a decade serving the state of New South Wales fighting fires, any other day he would be considered a hero, but now he has been tossed aside by his organisation for making a personal health choice.
I also spoke with a registered nurse on camera who finished up in her job yesterday, she has spent 13 years working in her role including working in theater in hospitals, another who has been there when we need them, helping to either save our lives or keep us safe. She is currently part of the legal case before the Supreme court in NSW, represented by AFL Solicitors.
The protest was peaceful and a small number of police officers attended but did not intervene.
I then headed up to Springwood to try and catch that protest but by the time I arrived the majority of the crowd had dispersed but I did have the choice to interview one couple who attended to take a stand for our right to free assembly as well as to protect all our freedoms and inalienable rights.
In Melbourne our correspondent Joel Gilmour covered the protest at Knox Westfields, Wantirna where about 50 attended also. The crowd was much more vocal then the Sydney crowd cheering as cars honked in appreciation for there efforts protesting the mandated vaccine. But unlike Sydney Joel captured footage of at least three arrests. All protesters were peaceful and were in no way violent towards officers, whilst Joel captured the footage from a distance it is believed that arrests may have been for breaches of the public health orders in Victoria.
AFIPN also spoke with one of the protestors who attended the protest in Mordialloc, Victoria where she confirmed that at least three arrest took place there as well, footage below.
