On Saturday afternoon at 3.30pm an alarm was raised after a kayaker came across a couple’s body floating close to the shore of Gordonbrook Dam in the South Burnett region.
The decomposed bodies of a man and a woman were found tied together and detectives investigating the discovery have made an appeal to the public for information relating to the pair, in hopes of piecing together the couple’s final movements.
It is believed that the two were locals, with the man thought to be in his 50s and the woman in her 40s. Their identities are yet to be confirmed, but a white 2004 Holden Commodore Station Wagon is said to have been parked in the picnic area at the Dam since February 22nd.
After emergency services retrieved the bodies from the water, a crime scene was declared and public assistance is being sought, with anyone who may have any information, or may have seen the vehicle being urged to contact police.
Investigations are ongoing.
