Two sisters aged 23 and 24, who lived together in a first-floor unit in Canterbury, a suburb in Sydney’s Southwest, NSW have died under suspicious circumstances.
A building manager raised the alarm after he noticed a build up of mail and parcels at their front door. Staff from a government agency came to do a welfare check and found the two women’s decomposing bodies in separate bedrooms.
Police were called and attended the unit at 9.30am Tuesday. There were no sign of forced entry and police have said the deaths are suspicious. Early examination of the bodies shows no sign of injury. A post-mortem will be carried out on the women.
Homicide and forensic officers worked late into the night seizing several items for further examination.
Local residents were rightly concerned as they said the area was quite a tame place to live.
The women have not been formally identified at this stage.
Police have asked for anyone who has information to please contact Burwood police station or Crimestoppers.
