On Saturday, 11 June 2022, two Firefighters from different Fire Departments tragically died with no cause of death established or reported.

According to the New York Post, a 49-year-old Long Island Fire Chief died suddenly on Saturday morning during rescue drills.

Chief Stephen Feron, 49, the second person in his family to serve as a fire chief, suddenly passed away while training with the Suffolk County Urban Search and Rescue Team.

While no further details have been provided at this time, it is understood that Feron passed away during water rescue drills.

The NY Post reported that Chief Feron’s body was taken to the medical examiner’s office near Central Islip Hauppauge Ambulance Company.

The Hauppauge Fire District announced the news on Twitter.

“The Board of Fire Commissioners extends their deepest sympathy to the Feron and Fallona families on the sudden passing of Ex-Chief Stephen A. Feron of the Truck Company.”

Feron’s family members declined to speak about the incident.

The sudden death of another Firefighter on Saturday was also announced on social media.

According to a Facebook post by the Sun City Fire and Medical Department and details posted to a GoFundMe page, the department wrote:

“It is with great sadness that the Sun City Fire and Medical Department has announced the untimely death of 36-year-old Shane Godbehere. Shane was a 15-year veteran of the department and passed away while on duty Saturday, June 11, 2022, while working at Fire Station 131.”

The veteran firefighter is reported to have passed away on duty. However, no further details have been made available.

Godbehere’s cause of death is yet to be determined by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s office.

The department wrote:

“At this time, the Sun City Fire and Medical Department is focused on grieving and supporting Shane’s family and our members.”
