Ukrainian officials have claimed they have hit the Russian Frigate ‘Admiral Makarov’ off the coast of Snake Island with a Neptune anti-ship missile. So far, the Russians have denied the claim, with a Putin spokesperson saying the Kremlin was unaware of any alleged missile attack on the Russian frigate.

According to a Ukrainian government website Dumskaya, a Burevestnik class frigate was located around midday near Snake Island. The site goes on to say that Russian aircraft were circling the warship as rescue ships make their way from Crimea.

Various videos and images are circulating online purporting to be the ‘Admiral Makarov’ ablaze, but they cannot be verified at this stage.

Anonymous Operations have shared a video of drone footage that is claimed to have come from Turkish media showing what is alleged to be the ‘Admiral Makarov’ ablaze.

If the news pans out to be true it will be another huge blow to the Russian Navy after they lost their biggest warship the ‘Moskva’ to a Ukrainian missile in April. Reports are now surfacing that the USA helped Ukraine sink the ‘Moskva’.

These new allegations that the USA was involved in the ‘Moskva’ sinking and a potential new attack on the ‘Admiral Makarov’ are sure to inflame tension even more in the region.
