Yesterday we brought you the news of two firefighters dying suddenly while on duty; their deaths were sudden and unrelated to any accident in the line of duty.
One was 36 and the other 49; today, we have learned of a third sudden death.
56-year-old Douglas Clemons was working at the Indian Lake Estates fire station when he died suddenly on Tuesday. He had served in fire rescue for over 27 years.
Polk County Fire Rescue announced the news on their Facebook page.
“With a heavy heart, we share the untimely death of Polk County Fire Rescue Engineer/Paramedic Douglas Clemons #0455. He began his career with Polk County EMS June 5, 1995. Doug was 56 years old. This occurred while he was on duty at Fire Station 27, Indian Lake Estates.
