A Covid-19 positive woman in Mount Gambier has had her car set alight overnight, in what appears to be a targeted attack.
Emergency services were called to the property just before 10:00pm last night to reports of a Holden sedan ablaze. Firefighters arrived at the property with the car fully ablaze and flames threatening the house. The car was completely destroyed along with surface damage to the house.
No one was home at the time of the attack. The woman is currently in hotel quarantine in Adelaide with her children. Crime scene investigators have attended the home and will investigate the incident.
SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens had this to say about the incident “It’s completely unnecessary, it’s unwarranted. They have committed a serious crime and if we do detect them we will be dealing with them appropriately.”
It is believed that social media hysteria in Mount Gambier has stirred up hatred towards this woman. But at this present moment there is no information to suggest she did anything wrong. It is known that the woman visited family in Casterton, Victoria. This is permitted within the SA border bubble, any other suggestion is currently hearsay.
Authorities are currently looking into her movements, but to date, have not provided any evidence that the woman did anything wrong. But as a result of the Covid-19 hysteria gripping the nation, she has been the victim of an apparent attack.
